Welcome! Thank you for stopping by to take a look at my online teaching portfolio.

My name is Hami Suzuki. I graduated with my M.A. degree in Second Language Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a specialization in Language Teaching in December 2013. I have been involved in language teaching, both English (ESL/EFL) and Japanese (JFL), since 2005. I love to teach language, and that is what I have decided to pursue. I hope my enthusiasm comes through in my teaching.

I taught ESL at the University of Hawaii English Language Program (IEP Program) for two years, and assisted in Japanese classes at the Outreach College (University of Hawaii at Manoa) too. I then moved to Oregon to teach full-time at INTO Oregon State University from September 2014 to February 2017. I currently teach at Rikkyo University in Tokyo, Japan.

Please take a moment to look at my curriculum vitae, syllabi, and materials I developed for the classes I taught. I am still working on my teaching philosophy, and academic work will be available shortly. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to send me a message at suzuki[dot]hami[at]oregonstate[dot]edu

I received the “Instructor of the Year” award for the Academic Year of 2014-2015 from INTO OSU! A big thank you to my co-workers, supervisor, family, and friends, who have supported me throughout this journey!

I was interviewed by a professional organization, NNEST (Non-Native English Speaking Teachers) of TESOL, for their “NNEST of the Month: July“. I look forward to hearing some responses! Happy reading!!
